St Paul's Road, Southsea

‘1st Wessex Brigade Royal Field Artillery; headquarters, 1st and 2nd Hampshire Batteries & 1st Wessex Ammunition Column, St. Paul’s road, Southsea.’ (Kelly, 1911)

This is listed in Kelly, 1899, as Grigg street, Southsea, Commercial road to St. Paul’s sq., Hampshire (2nd) Volunteer Artillery Drill Hall.

Designed by A. E. Cogswell, this building dates from 1897/8 and is now a part of the University of Portsmouth, known as the Wiltshire Building. It is used as a sports hall and there is apparently nothing of military significance remaining inside after at least two modification phases since the TA stopped using the premises
